📌 1. Introduction & Overview

Welcome to Doc Scanner: Scan & Share ("the App"), developed by Suraj Sahani. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have complete control over your scanned documents.

Doc Scanner is engineered with a privacy-first, offline-first architecture. All document scanning, edge enhancement, cropping, filters, and PDF/JPEG conversions are performed locally directly on your Android device. We do not collect, store, sell, or transmit your scanned documents or personal files to any remote server.

🔐 2. Permissions Required & Justification

To provide fast and seamless scanning functionality, the App requests access to specific device features only when needed:

• Camera Permission (android.permission.CAMERA): Used exclusively within the scanner viewfinder to capture photos of physical documents, receipts, invoices, and notes in real time. Camera frames are processed locally in memory and never broadcasted.
• Photos & Media / Gallery (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES): Used only when you tap "From Gallery" to import existing photos for cropping, filter application, and PDF generation.
• Internet / Share (android.permission.INTERNET): Used only to facilitate external sharing via standard Android system intents when you explicitly choose to share files to WhatsApp, Gmail, Google Drive, or other apps installed on your device.

🛡️ 3. On-Device Processing & Data Storage

All image processing operations (including B&W thresholding, color enhancement, contrast adjustment, 90° rotation, and A4 PDF rendering) occur entirely within your device's local memory using native Android rendering engines.

💬 4. Document Sharing & Third-Party Apps

When you share a document as a PDF Document or JPEG Image:

• The file is temporarily placed in the secure, isolated app cache using Android's standard FileProvider.
• The file is passed directly to the recipient app (e.g., WhatsApp, Gmail, Google Drive) via secure Android system intents.
• Once shared, handling of the document is governed by the privacy policy of the respective recipient platform.

👶 5. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

Doc Scanner: Scan & Share does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children. Since the App does not require account creation, registration, or data transmission, it is safe for users of all ages.

⚖️ 6. GDPR & CCPA Compliance

Because we do not store, track, or process personal data on external servers:

• No Tracking / No Profiling: We do not use third-party analytics trackers, advertising IDs, or behavioral profiling tools.
• Data Ownership: You have 100% ownership and immediate control to delete any scanned documents from your device at any time.
